Children are eligible to start in reception at Terrington Primary School in the September of the school year in which their 5th birthday falls between 1st September and the following 31st August. We want to ensure that each child makes the best possible start to their time in school. To this end we are happy to discuss flexible arrangements. If children feel comfortable, confident and secure at school, they are much more likely to become effective, increasingly independent learners. If we are oversubscribed for reception places in any year then we use the school admissions policy and criteria which can be found at the link below.
For our nursery we use North Yorkshire Admission policy and criteria which can be found on the link below:
Prior to a child starting school or nursery a series of transition visits are put in place in order for children to be familiar with our EYFS provision.
There may be circumstances where parents elect a later starting date – parents retain the right for their child to begin compulsory education in the term after their child’s 5th birthday.
For further school admissions information and access to an electronic application form, please use the North Yorkshire admissions link below.
We welcome visits to our school so you can meet our team so please contact us if you would like to arrange this.

We have recently hosted our parent and toddler/preschool workshops across our 3 schools. These sessions took place outside and adhere to strict social distancing. We are excited to announce that at Terrington we are hoping to re-introduce this workshops in January including a workshop each week exploring different aspects of Early Years. To attend the workshops your child does not need to be a school pupil, pre-schoolers and toddlers are encouraged. If you would like to book a place on any of the sessions below please email your school office.
