Our Federation

Foston CE Primary School and Terrington CE VA Primary School are federated schools situated in the Howardian Hills near Castle Howard.

We federated in 2017 and have found it has been an excellent opportunity and an advantage for both staff and children to share ideas and make new friends. The federation has provided improved teaching and learning enabling strong leadership across. We work as a team across the federation and we have seen real benefits to both schools. Including being able to offer a broader curriculum and extra-curricular activities. Joining together for sports enhancement days, trips and many more days allows the children to make strong relationships and build their confidence within a wider peer group. Our friendly and approachable members of staff encourage parental involvement, and our children learn to show a pride in themselves and their achievements.

Within our schools we work very hard to create a team of teachers and support staff that will support each child in reaching their potential. Many who visit us comment on the strength of our ‘staff team’ and their shared commitment to help every child in the school achieve their best.

We value the broad and balanced curriculum which our staff offers and all children are able to access not only academic, but creative and physical areas of the National Curriculum fully, so that they receive the highest standard of education.
