Head of School Welcome

On behalf of our pupils, staff and governors at Terrington C of E school, I would like to warmly welcome you to our idyllic, inclusive and enriching school, set in the heart of the Howardian hills and area of natural landscape. I am honoured to lead this vibrant and dynamic community where each child’s educational journey is personalised, enriched and enhanced by a commitment to excellence and Christian values.

At Terrington C of E Primary, we have a dedicated team of teachers and staff who are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where all children can thrive from the moment they enter our doors the term after their 3rd birthday, to the second they leave use at the end of Y6. We aim to foster a love of learning, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Through small mixed age classes, our pupils receive a personalised and unique experience to ensure that every student not only achieves their academic potential but also develops the moral and spiritual grounding necessary to become compassionate, responsible members of society.

Our school’s ethos is deeply rooted in the Christian values of the fruits of the spirits where we encourage children to demonstrate love, joy, patience and self-control, rooted in the words of St Paul (Galatians 5v 22-23) which guides our approach to education as well as local and wider community life. We emphasise respect, kindness, and integrity, helping students to grow into well-rounded individuals who are prepared to face the challenges of the future with confidence and resilience.

We offer a broad, balanced and creative curriculum, enriched by a variety of extracurricular activities and opportunities for personal growth such as outdoor learning, clubs for the arts and forest schools. Underpinned by our curriculum enhancers of diversity, creativity, sustainability and community, we ensure that every child feels valued and supported in themselves but also shares those attributes for the world around them. We strive to create an environment where every student can discover their strengths and pursue their passions. Take a look at our curriculum pages to explore more about our inclusive curriculum and our curriculum enhancements.

Being part of a successful federation with Stillington community school, Foston C of E school and collaborating with Langon community school, we have excellent links to widen pupils peer groups allowing them to develop friendships, cultural capital, collaboratively work and enhance the pupils educational landscape.

I invite you to visit our enriching school so that you may look around, meet our staff and pupils and witness our ethos in action.  Please email us on terrington.primary@foston.n-yorks.sch.uk or ring 01653 648340 in order to arrange a convenient time. Together, we can support and guide our children in achieving their fullest potential, preparing them to make positive contributions to the world around them.

Thank you,

Miss Tordoff
